During the course of the year we run 3 Beginner's courses. We were unable to run our June/July course this year but we are back on track now.We have just started our September/October course that is full but we do have a waiting list that you can add your name to . The next course that we are due to run will be in February/March of 2010, our waiting list for this course is currently full but if you are interested in putting your name down fur future courses then please contact us (please be patient I will get back to you)
We split the beginner's course into four sessions (that run from 7:00pm to 8:30pm) with a week's break in the middle to allow us to hold a committee meeting. After the main course we offer extra Date(s)where we allow club members to shoot alongside you, These extra dates are designed to give our beginner's a taste of shooting in a club enviroment alongside our club members but they are also used to give anyone who has missed a session a chance to complete their course. The cost of the extra date(s) are part of the main course fee. We feel that the 1st session is very important to a beginner's development and therefore if you cannot attend the first session we will move your place on to the next course. The cost of the Beginner's course is £30 with £5 redeemable if you choose to Join Blandy-Jenkins archers. Due to poeple dropping out of the course at the last minute we ask for a £10 non-refundable deposit 2 weeks before the course is due to start to hold your place on the course. We use GNAS (our governing body) qualified coaches alongside senior archers to teach our beginners with the maximum number of 12 people on each course. We supply all the equipment that you will need during the beginner's course, this includes the bow, arrows, safety gear targets and the a beginners manual. All we ask is that you wear sensible shoes/trainers and that the clothes that you wear are not baggy. We advise people not to buy their own kit before they have completed a beginner's course. during the course we hold a talk about the different styles of archery and the type of equipment that are available.
